As your life changes, so does your purpose
Maggie Wooll explains how finding your purpose can help you to live your best life in this article. She discusses how philosophers have sought out the purpose of life for years, but the most important purpose is your purpose. She explains that purpose is the long game not a short-term goal and it can be explained by your reason to get up in the morning.
Wooll explains the concept of Ikigai, a Japanese concept of following your joy. Wooll explains that finding joy is when you can overlap what you love to do, what you're good at, and what will pay to find a career.
Finding this sense of purpose is important to our physical and mental health. According to Wooll, multiple studies have shown that living a purposeful life can help you to live longer. However, as you grow so does your purpose and it's important to follow this growth to live a meaningful life. For example, at a certain point in your life, it might be your purpose to be a good parent or partner. It's important to follow your purpose at a specific point in your life so that you are fulfilled.
Something that I had never thought about until this article was the idea that your purpose can change as you get older. I think this is a very interesting and smart idea because when you’re 20, you are in a very different position in life than when you’re 50. It makes sense that your purpose would be in a different position too.
Following your purpose can lead you to feel fulfilled and combine this purpose within work, but following the changes that your purpose goes through will lead you to have a better, healthier, and more fulfilling life and career.
